Workplace Description

The research is conducted at the Department of Clinical Sciences, Lund University, under the leadership of Professor Sandra Lindstedt.

The activities have a clear clinical and translational focus on lung transplantation and the development and evaluation of advanced therapies for lung diseases, including advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs). The research group is part of the Wallenberg Centre for Molecular Medicine (WCMM) and Lund Stem Cell Center, offering an international, inclusive, and sustainable research environment with excellent opportunities for collaboration and professional development. Job Responsibilities

We are looking for a person to work with the following tasks:

  • Support the development of MSC-based ATMPs through the establishment and implementation of standardized quality control analyses (e.g., identity, viability, purity, and function).
  • Perform MSC cell culture, including optimization of culture conditions, passaging, cryopreservation, and sample handling.
  • Conduct molecular and cellular characterization, process data, and compile and document results.
  • Contribute to method development and protocol optimization, including the establishment/update of SOPs and traceable documentation related to ATMP work.
  • Participate in translational studies related to mouse and pig models in lung transplantation and acute lung disease, including relevant sampling and analysis in collaboration with the research group.
  • Support daily laboratory operations (planning, materials/logistics) and contribute to a safe, well-organized, and inclusive work environment.

Other tasks may also be included.

Qualifications

Requirements for the position are:

  • Bachelor's degree (equivalent to Bachelor of Science) in molecular biology, biotechnology, or equivalent.
  • Documented laboratory experience in ATMPs, cell and/or molecular biology, including cell culture (primary cells and/or cell lines).
  • Experience with standardized analyses relevant to quality control in cell-based projects, e.g., viability, cell phenotype/identity, and simpler functional assays.
  • Good familiarity with structured documentation, data management, and sample traceability, as well as working according to established protocols/SOPs.
  • Ability to work meticulously and independently, with good collaboration skills and a communicative working style.

Desirable qualifications for the position are:

  • Education in stem cell biology, immunology, or regenerative medicine.
  • Experience with flow cytometry, qPCR, ELISA, and/or immunostaining/microscopy as part of cell characterization and quality control.
  • Experience in method development, protocol optimization, and establishment/update of SOPs.
  • Experience in preclinical work or sample handling related to mouse models and/or pig models, preferably within lung/transplantation-related issues.
  • Experience working in quality systems or GMP-related environments (e.g., batch documentation, material traceability, and deviation management).
  • Excellent ability to communicate in English, both written and spoken, including scientific writing and presentations.

Other

The position is a fixed-term employment for 12 months with a workload of 100%. Desired start date is February 16, 2026, or by agreement.
